How to use alarm and customize alarm tones on Moto E, Moto G and Moto X?

In addition to ringtones and notification tones, you can also customize the alarm tones on your Moto E, Moto G (including Moto X 2nd generation) and Moto X (including Moto X 2nd generation).

This guide shows you how to create and manage alarms on your Moto devices.  Customizing alarm tones will also be covered.  For simplicity, Moto E is used in this guide. But this guide works exactly in the identical way as in Moto G, Moto G 2014 (2nd Gen.), Moto X and Moto X 2014 (2nd Gen).

How to create an alarm on Moto E, Moto G and Moto X?

Step 1: start Clock app.

To create an alarm, start the Clock app.

Step 2: setup the time

Tap the alarm clock icon as shown below in the top left. Tap the “+” sign to create an alarm on Moto E.

To create the new alarm on Moto E, you need set up the hour (0-23) and minutes  using the ring provided.

Step 3: Setup alarm  repeat.

You can choose how often the Moto E  alarm repeats  each week.

By default, the new alarm created on Moto E is not repeated, i.e., Moto E thinks this alarm is one-time setting.

Tap Repeat as shown above to enable the repeat settings.

Moto E alarm repeat is based on weekdays from Sunday to  Saturday.  You choose on the days you want to enable this alarm.  The Moto E alarm will repeat on the days with blue underlines.

Currently, it is impossible to set alarm repeat as every  specific day each month.

Step 4: Setup alarm tones and vibration on Moto E

When you create an alarm on Moto E, the default alarm tone is being used. You can manually turn on vibrate as shown above.

You can change the alarm tone on Moto E easily. Tapping current alarm tone as shown above will bring you to the alarm tone setting age.

To choose pre-installed alarm tones, or audio files in the Alarms folder (discussed later), choose Media storage, then tap one. Now select the desired alarm tone.

Once finishing the selection, tap OK to confirm and update the alarm tone for this specific alarm.

Step 5: setup the label (name) of the alarm.

You can give each alarm a meaning name so that you can easily remember the purpose of the alarm after a few weeks.

Tap the Label area to call out the keyboard. Type the name, then tap OK to update the label.

The new Alarm now is created on your Moto E.

How to  manage alarms on Moto E, Moto G and Moto X?

Once the alarm is created on Moto E, you can turn it on/off at any time by dragging the on/off button.

You can also delete any alarms on Moto E if you think you don’t need them any more.  Tapping the dustbin icon next to the label to delete the specific alarm. There is NO un-do option!

You can change the default alarm behavior by tapping the menu key (3 vertical dots, as shown below).

In the Moto E alarm settings, you  may want to change the duration of snooth, alarm volume, and the functions of volume button when alarm is making sound.

How to customize alarm tones on Moto E, Moto G and Moto X?

In addition to the pre-installed alarm tones, just like ringtones and notifications tones, you can also customize alarm tones on Moto E.

You can put any audio files to the Alarms folder as shown below when connecting your Moto E to PC through an USB cable (read this guide on how to connect Moto E with a PC through an USB cable).

If the audio file is already on the phone, you can copy it the Alarms folder with a file manager, for example, ES File explorer.

Of course, you can also directly use ES File manager to specify any audio files on the phone as the alarm tone as shown below.

If ES File Explorer is installed, by default, when you set the alarm tone, you will be asked to choose ES File explorer or use Media Storage. Media storage is for pre-installed alarm tones and all ausdio files in the Alarms folder.  ES File Explorer is for audio files that are visible to ES File explorer. So, you should use Just Once, not Always.

If you use ES File explorer to specify an audio file as the alarm tone, you need navigate to the folder, tap the audio file. The alarm tone will be changed immediately. There is no confirmation button.

  • I have es file explorer installed but while selecting alarm tones i only get to choose from default tones. The box showing es file explorer and media storage does not open.

    • Settings -apps. tap the menu key (3 vertical dots in the top right corner), tap reset app preferences. Then try again.

      • Reset ineffective. Use of ES File Explorer to install custom alarm tones has failed, as there is no prompt when changing alarm tones on the device. USB connection to a computer has met with failure as there is no folder marked Alarms in Internal Storage of the device. This is a Moto G fresh out of the box. Please advise.

        • Alarms should always be a folder in internal storage in all gens of Moto G. This is standard Android layout. Did you use ES file explorer to check it on the phone. In some Windows machines, you may set to hide empty folders.

ES File explorer cannot be used to set alarm tones in Marshmallow because alarm can request access storage directly. You can still use it for ringtones.

          • I've looked for the Alarms folder connected directly connected to the PC as well as using the search function in ES File Explorer. It's not listed, which of course begs the question of where the pre-installed alarm tones are kept since they are still present and functioning.

          • The pre-installed alarm tones are saved in a different folder (/system/media/audio/alarms). This folder is read-only. Your own alarm tones are supposed to be in /storage/emulated/0/Alarms. This is default Android layout.

Anyway, if you are sure you do not have the Alarms folder in the storage folder, you can manually create one. Please make sure the name is exactly Alarms (capital the first A).

          • I have tried what Simon has suggested, but that didnt help.. So, I have gone to settings->Apps->All Apps->looked for "Clock" app and then clicked on "disable" and "uninstalled all updates".
Once you do that, the Clock App will disappear from the Menu. But dont panic. Go to settings->Apps->Disabled, look for "Clock" App and click on it and enable the App. Once the App is enabled, it will start appearing in the "Menu". Click on the "Clock" App in the Menu and either create a new Alarm as per your requirement or try editing the Alarm tone. You will get the option of Opening with ES Explorer, where you can select any mp3 file located on the phone as Alarm tone.

        • Wow! This is definitely a "design defect." Even my first phone years ago had this option. This means I need to travel with an alarm clock - or buy a different phone. (After hours waiting for a train in Europe, I slept through its departure.)

          • All Android phones and iPhones work in this way. You need power on the phone to use alarms. Smartphones are designed to be on 24 hours a day. It is not necessary to power it off in the night.

          • You are wrong Simon. All my previous android phones could be off and the alarm would switch phone on and ring. I have a life, I don't need my phone on 24/7. As previously stated; design flaw!

          • Maybe I am wrong. But I do not know any specific Android phones (or iPhone) that alarm you when you power them off. Alarms in the Clock app work only when the Android system is running. This is one of the fundamental difference between the Android (and iOS) phones and feature phones. Alarms in feature phones do not need a powered-on phone. As long as the battery is not drained out, it should work.

In some Android phones up to Android Nougat, a few Android vendors (e.g., Nokia)implemented the "scheduled power on" option. It can automatically power on the phone at the designated time as long as the battery is not flat. But even on these phones, the alarm does not work when the phone is off. It seems no vendors offer such a feature since Android Oreo (8.0).

Anyway, I only share what I know. You may let the community know if you get an Android phone that can alarm you when it is powered off. I guess some other members may also look for this feature.

    • The default probably is only one and it should be inactive.

You need check the seal of the box to see whether there it is a used or new one. Normally, if previous owner reset the phone, the alarms should be cleared.

  • doesnt work on my moto g 2014. i copy pasted the mp3 file as you shown. but still i cant find the file when i open through alarms

    • Did you put it in the alarms folder directly?

If you copy the mp3 file from the phone (not through the pc), you can try to reboot the phone.

      • In my MotoG 1st Generation, in internal storage there is no folder named "Alarms" , I tried to creat it but system is not allowing me to do the same. now suggest me how can I set my favt. music as my morning Alarm tone.

  • I have a MOTO E The camera stops working at times it states "unable to open camera. Of this repeats please power off your phone and try again" after restarting my phone it still is not working.

  • Hi Simon, My motog was updated to the lollipop version after which I am facing a problem with the alarm. When my alarm rings in the morning I do not get the face wherein you swipe the alarm to stop it. I have to actually go into the alarm app and deactivate my alarm option to stop the ringing. Would you have any idea how to correct this problem?

    • When it rings, you should get the clock in the lock screen. Drag it to left to snooze, right to dismiss.

Also, in the notification area, you can also find the alarm notification and you can dismiss it there as well.

      • Yes you should get the clock on top of the lock screen and the first alarm did but not the second or third. Any ideas why?

        • It should always show only one (the nearest one) alam in locks screen. This is normal. It does not make sense to show a list of alarms, probably.

          • It is not a list of alarms but 3 seperate alarms at seperate times. The first one goes off and can be seen easily and is switched off. The second one goes off but is not on the front screen, you have to unlock the phone and drag down the icons from the top to switch it off.

          • Not sure what you want to do? The lock screen only displays the closest alarm. You need dismiss the expired one. This is the purpose of alarm.

  • hi,
I want to know how to set up a power-off alarms in moto-g 1'st gen. Is the provision is there to do so?

    • In smartphones, alarms works only when the phone is on. If the phone is powered off, there is no way to use the alarm. (Most old feature phone can do it.)

  • Why won't my moto e turn on in the morning after I turn the phone off
I have ring tones enabled, sound profile set on and repeat of also
    Any ideas?

  • So I can not set alarm and turn phone off? Seems not. Alarm clock does not ring. Only once I turn on the phone it shows a missed alarm. Hmm?

    • You are right. Alarms in smartphone only work when the phone is powered on.

In many old feature phones, alarms work even when phone is off (as long as the battery is t removed or dead). But this is not the case for smartphones.

Btw, why do you power off the phone? Smartphones are designed to be always on.

  • Thanks for the confirmation. I don't like to have the antenna on the whole night close to my head. There are anyway enough networks constantly being beamed through the house. I assume the sleeping mode only supresses alerts but turning anything off right? Could you please advise how I could turn the antenna off?

    • Aeroplane (flight) mode will turn off mobile network, wifi and bluetooth. The later 2 can be turned on manually in flight mode. But mobile network is always off in flight mode.

You can add the widget to home screen so that you can turn it on/off easily.

  • I selected complete action using file manager nd selected always option.nw every time it just goes to file manager and i am not able to get the default alarm tones.is there a way to be able to select again?

  • Hi, By mistake i deleted the alarm once and now i don't get the snooze button on the screen at all. Kindly let me know how to revoke the snooze function please.

    • you can try to reset the Clock app in Settings--apps--all--clock. tap clear cache and tap clear data.

    • It depends on the Android version on your phone.

If your phone is still on Kitkat, you can change the sound mode to mute or vibrate (as detailed in this guide). In this way, phone should not ring. But alarm is not affected.

But if your phone is on Lollipop. It is complicated. If you choose None mode, alarm will be turned off as well. So you need change to priority mode and adjust notifications accordingly. Please follow this guide.

  • Alarm is switched off by touching an swiping screen. Is there a way to change this? Alarm doesn't go off if in pocket or under pillow as they are touching the screen. Is there a way around this? Many thanks.

  • Alarm doesn't go off if there's any pressure on the screen eg if it's in my pocket. Or else it switches off in a microsecond. Is there a way around this eg removing alarm OFF function from screen and moving to a button? Thanks.

    • Not sure whether you want to snooze or dismiss alarm. You can set volume button to snooze or dismiss in the settings for the alarm as illustrated in the page.

Also, it is not pressure, but gesture that controls the feature.

  • Hi,
I have recently bought a Moto E phone and am really happy with it. However, there is an issue with the alram clock. When it goes off, the screen where you can swipe snooze of off does not always come up.This means that every morning I spend a few disorientated minutes desperately trying to turn off my alarm. Is there another way to operate it that I'm unaware off?
    Thanks

  • I ended up pressing 'always' instead of 'just once' for the alarms and not the es file manager and now I can't seem to personalize the alarm. It won't update the file I copy to the alarm paste. What do I do? I tried resetting the clock features and erasing the cache.

    • You can always reset the default apps in settings - apps. Tap the menu key (3 vertical dots) and tap reset app preferences.

  • For my Moto E model, the alaram never rings when phone is lock mode. So I won't be able to use this alarams. Pls advice.

  • Cool☺
However, I would like to know how to make the alarm soungld when the phone is turned off.
    Thanks!!!

    • Alarm will not work if the phone is powered off. This is common for almost all smartphones because alarm is actually an app (clock app) on smartphones. When phone is powered off, how can you run apps? This is different from feature phones.

Anyway, why would you power off the phone? It's not good for the phone to power on /off the phone daily.

  • When you have multiple alarms set, is there any way to turn off all in one go rather than having to turn off each one separately?

    • No, I don't think it's necessary. You just tap the switch off each alarm on the alarm page. A switch to turn off all alarms doesn't save much time.

  • My alarm function has ceased to work on Moto E. Worked fine for a few weeks then stopped working. I have deleted it, created a new one with same settings, made sure the volume is up on the sound and checked the ringtone. But it does not help. How can I get the alarm function going again?

  • Hi I just tried to customise my alarm tone however when the alarm goes off it doesn't play the song. just an old school alarm sound. How do I fix this?

  • Hi, In other phones I was using earlier there was a feature of alarm when my phone was off. But my in Moto G3 alarm does not work if phone is off. Is this problem in all moto g3 phones?

    • Smartphones doesn't have this feature. Alarm works only when the phone is powered on. This is same in all smartphones nowadays.

  • I set up the alarm and power off the mobile, then this alarm was not working, so please give the solution for this

    • This is normal. Alarm in smartphones works ONLY when the phone is powered on. It is different from feature phones. It is not necessary to power off phones in the night.

  • my moto x screen is cracked and the touch is not working but i manged to set an alarm using touchless control and i had set the alram to never go off until i manually close it and my laptop doesnt detect my phone because the alarm goes off . help in any way possible . thanks man

    • I didn't understand the problem. Whether your PC can detect the phone (through USB] or not has nothing to do with alarm.

Anyway, repair the screen. It's hard to use a Moto x without a working screen.

  • How do I turn the alarm off without unlocking the phone and going into the alarm and sliding it to off? I have tried sliding the lock but that doesn't work. I set it to dismiss with the volume keys but that isn't working.

  • hello admin, i couldnt set alarm tone through es folder .. its moto g 1st gen with lolipop... i tried all the way u told before... first of all when i select tone in alarm it shows only system tones ... not getting way to es folder

    • Very likely, you tapped always using media storage. You can clear default apps on settings - apps. Tap the menu key (3 vertical dots), then tap clear app preferences.

  • Hi, Simon. I have problem with the alarm of my Moto X Play. Is there a way to set it up so that it will be ringing after 10, 20, 30 etc. minutes until I switch it off? Now it rings only ones and if I miss it the alarm isn't ringing any more.

    • Open clock app, switch to alarm tab (1st one on the top), tap menu icon (3 vertical dots on top right), tap settings, now you can customize silence after and snooze length. These settings are for all active alarms.

  • Hi. I've checked this topic in another forum and there was a surprise - actually Moto X Play doesn't have an auto-snooze function. The only snooze is manual - with the volume buttons. For auto - snooze I should install an additional alarm app from Google play store.

  • Under "auto-snooze" I mean that the alarm will snooze without any actions with the snooze button on the screen or the buttons for the volume. I need that in case I don't hear the alarm at the first time.

  • Hey,
I have by mistake selected "Always" for ES file explorer instead of "Just Once". Is there any way to change it back?

  • Hi,

How do i get back default ringtones for alarm and other messaging apps on MOTO g2 after upgrade to marshmellow.

    • Settings-- Sound & notifications-- phone ringtone. Default notification tone can also be set there.

      Did you get any problems?

  • I want my alarm to ring every 15 mins. Is there some way I can set it, other than setting manually for every 15 mins?

  • I want to use a song file as my default alarm clock sound. My phone rings with the song, but not the alarm clock. I tried placing a copy of the song file in "Alarms," "Notifications" and "Music." The song plays for my phone ringtone but not for my alarm clock. It still place a default sound.

    Any advise?

    • You can set alarm tone for each alarm. Did you set there alarm tone for the specific alarm.

  • hello, i just bought a moto-e (2nd gen.) phone. when the alarm goes off there is no way to switch it off without going into the clock app and disable it there. I've tried the power and volume buttons but it does'nt work! it's very frustrating! what can i do??
when the alarm goes off noting appears on the screen, also when the screen is unlocked. please help.

  • Hello Simon.
I have a Moto X Play with Android 6.0. I have a song in my Music folder that I wish to set as an alarm tone. I have installed Es File Explorer and I have reset app preferences. When I try to select another tone for one of my alarms, I am asked if I wish to allow Clock to access my files, I press allow and the typical alarm tone list appears, and I am not asked about if I want to search it in Es File Explorer or somewhere else. The same thing happens if I select "Deny" to the permissions.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to have something in my alarm folder for it to work? Because it's empty right now.
    Thank you very much!

    • In Android Marshmallow, the alarm tones are handled by alarm app directly, not through media storage any more. So, ES File explorer or any file explorers will not be an option.

You can copy the music file to the Alarms folder. This folder is for you to put your own alarm tones.

      • Thanks for your reply.
So if I want to have that mp3 as my alarm and also as an available song in Play Music app I need to have that file in two different folders? That's very ineficient I think.

        • If you put it in Alarms folder and remove the .nomedia file, music app then can see the music. But I would not recommend it. You just keep two copies of a mp3 file. It should not take so much storage.

  • I m having moto g4 plus and there is no folder of alarms in internal storage. So plz help me out ro set customized alarm tone

    • How did you check it?

By default the folder is empty, so you need make sure empty folders are also listed if you are checking from PC.

You can check it in Settings--Storage & USB --Internal storage --Explorer (the last item).

If you still cannot find it, you can take a screenshot and share it in our Facebook page.

      • It would have been great if the alarm clocked worked whilr the set is off . Besides the heating issue is quite bothering. Hope the upcoming moto models will not have these issues.

        • Smartphones are designed as always on devices. It's not necessary to power it off often. Alarm in all smartphones should not work when the phone is off because alarm is an app of the OS.

You can try do not disturb feature when in night.

    • Yes, alarm should not be affected by power saver. But in fact, battery saver will not save much battery as you expected.

  • Why does alarm on moto e only work if phone is on? All my other phones worked whether on or off. Roger.

    • Smartphone (except the old Symbian phones) always work in this way. In Android and iOS, alarm is managed by the operating system. You must boot up the phone to make alarm work.

You should not power off Moto E often. It's designed to be always-on.

  • I have es file explorer
But selecting alarm tones, get to choose from default tones. The box showing es file explorer and media storage does not open.

  • I accidentally clicked snooze off on my alarm and now I can't seem to get it back on.snooze duration in the settings still reads 5 minutes. Any suggestions?

  • The alarm on my Moto G3 starts quietly and gets louder. The same sound ('Oxygen') on my Moto G1 starts loud and stays loud. Is it possible to make the sound on the G1 start quietly?
    Many thanks.

    • Yes, you can enable "gradually increase volume" in clock app. Open the clock app, tap the menu key ( 3 vertical dots in top right), tap settings. You can then find the option of gradually increase volume just below the alarm volume.

        • Sorry for the confusion. I remember this feature was added in Lollipop. Did you update the phone to Lollipop?

Clock app is part of the system app and you can only udpate it through system udpate.

  • I found I could update the Clock app through Google Store and it now has the 'increase volume' option. Thanks for your pointers on this.

  • I got a motto speck (I think it's called, that's what's on the back anyway,) phone last year from Verizon, I HATE this phone, have had prepaid $14 phones do a much better job than this one. Anyway, in the alarms section, what does DISMISS mean and HOW do I get it back up? Once I tapped it, the ONLY thing that shows now is the label name! It's like it's just gone and I have NO clue what it even does, much less how to get it back on screen Ty.

    • Dismiss means you know it and you don't want it bother you again. If it's a repeated alarm, it will bug you next time (e.g. next day if it's daily).

You can manage all alarms in clock app.

  • Hi, how do you turn off the alarm on a Moto g5? I tried it for the first time this morning and there was no swipe or any other way to turn it off. It was docked and on dnd until alarm. Thanks

    • When the alarm rings, you should have the option to swipe to dismiss it. What do you mean it's "docked"? Does it ring again and again¿

  • Is there a way to change the snooze time for different alarms on the Moto G5? On my LG phone I could select a 5 minute snooze time for one alarm (eg wake up), and 30 min snooze time for another (eg a daytime reminder). On my Moto G5 it seems the snooze times I set apply to all alarms, is that so?

    • No, the snooze time setting is for all alarms in Moto G5.

You have to use third-party alarm apps if you need to set different snooze time for different alarms.

  • I have a E4plus. That sucks that moto can't incorporate different snooze times for multiple alarms. It shouldn't be that difficult to do. Lots of people have multiple alarms for different things. My Samsung 5 did that.

    • The stock Android only has one snooze setting. Samsung and a few vendors customize it. Motorola uses near- stock Android so that they can deliver update quickly.

  • I have just purchased the E4 Plus. When the alarm sounds the screen stays black, in order to stop the alarm I have to open the phone , open the clock app and switch it off. How can I get the dismiss /snooze options to appear when the alarm sounds ?

  • Very briefly the round clock appears and goes off, I cannot access anything while its there by tapping on it?

  • The swipe doesn't work, I read that in earlier advice and tried it, also just double checked. I appreciate your help, but it seems that the alarm on this device is such let down, it really has spoilt the phone for me, never had any other android phone with such an annoying alarm. Very disappointing.

    • Not sure. If swiping does not work, you can try to drag it (press and hold the icon, then move your finger without leaving the screen).

  • Again, no , not working. I really think anybody would expect a dismiss or snooze prompt to appear on screen as soon as the alarm sounds , all the phones I've had have worked this way. Clearly this moto just doesn't work that way. This is my first moto so I'm presuming.

    • Not sure about the issue. Actually Moto phones use Android stock clock app.

You can try to back up the phone and try a factory data test.

  • When adjusting volume using swipe it is not silent. For example when adjusting phone volume the selected phone sound plays. Can volume adjustment be silent and not give sample of sound volume at the selected volume scale?

    • If you set volume through Settings --Sounds, yes, it always plays the sample.

You can avoid it by using the volume button (volume up or volume down. On the Home screen, press volume down (or up) button. By default, it shows the ringer volume if you are not playing media. Tap the down arrow right to the slider. you can adjust the volume for media and alarms using the respective slider. It will be slient.

      • I don't have volume up/down buttons on Home Screen. I have volume up/down buttons on side of phone. When volume button is pressed the default is a music note symbol for Media. Adjusting up/down using buttons only adjust the media volume. I can only adjust ring volume through settings. How do I change default from media to ringer?

        • When you see the music note icon, there is a slider to the right of it. And after the slider, there is a down-arrow button/icon. Tap it to see options for ringtone and alarms.

This option is available on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later. It was illustrated here. If you are using the 1st gen of Moto E or Moto G (these are the only two Moto E/G phones stopped at Android lollipop 5.1), you may not see the option.

  • After many research hours, and even calling Motorola, my issue of stopping the sample volume sound when adjusting the phone or alarm volume was not resolved by these resources. But I have figured out a work around to adjust the volume without the sample sound on my Moto G7 Maxx phone. Go to Settings>Sound, select the volume you want to change and without lifting your finger drag to the volume level you want, do not lift your finger, press the Go to Home button. Your selected volume level will be changed without the sample sound disturbing anyone in the vicinity. Hope this is helpful.

    • Thank you for sharing your tips.

For Android 6.0 and later, you can use the volume button to adjust the volume for ringer and alarms without playing the sample music. The volume control pop-out was illustrated here.

  • On my Moto G7 Maxx (Android 9) there are no drop down arrows on the volume control under Sound>Settings and the volume control pop out only adjusts Media sound. The suggested solution in the link from Motoeguide was not applicable to the Moto G7. Motorola customer service also confirmed that the Moto G7 does not have an option to adjust ringer or alarm volume without the sample sound. I hope that by discovering my work around it will save others much time and frustration.

    • Thank you for correcting me. Yes, you are right. In Android 9, Google messed up the volume rocker (but they fixed it in Pixel phones later). In Android 10, a configuration icon was added and it will link to a popup control panel.

  • I have a Moto G7 Maxx Android 9. The gradual increase volume for alarm is not working on my phone. I have it set to gradual increase 5 seconds but it does not increase the alarm volume when the alarm goes off. The alarm volume stays the same level for the duration of the alarm period.

    • The maximum volume is limited by your alarm volume settings.

If you set gradually increase volume to 5 seconds, the alarm volume should reach the set volume in 5 seconds. After that, it should keep the set volume.

  • How can I set the sunrise alarm? I had it in my previous moto g6 but am unable to locate this option when I changed to Moto g6 Stylus.

    • It is under Bedtime in your Clock app.

Open the Clock app, in the bottom, you can find Alarm, Clock, Timer, Stopwatch, and Bedtime. Tap Bedtime, tap get started, then you can see the Sunrise Alarm option.

    • Alarms in Moto devices (and most other Android devices and iPhones) cannot choose a date. You can only specify weekdays. It sounds stupid. But it has been this way for a long, long time. BTW, Samsung's Alarm (clock app) allows you to set dates.

There are a few solutions for Moto devices:
1). use calendar events/reminders. But you will get notifications only. No alarm.
2). use third-party alarm/reminder apps. For example, Life Reminders (you need to set it as an alarm) is a decent one.
